"I was tired of working at an office or factory every day..."
Meet Oscar and Maria, a pair of Invisible operators for over 4 years and married for longer than that. They’re based in Venezuela.
Oscar, a Senior Lead, primarily operates key business processes for a company in the PropTech space, while Maria now contributes to processes in a part-time capacity.
I got a chance to catch up with them last week. Here is some of our conversation:
You have both been at Invisible for over 4 years. What’s changed in that time?
Oscar:
Maria: We used to work only with emails and Google Sheets. Invisible didn’t have a platform built like it has now. The company has grown huge!
Oscar: A friend recommended the company. We had never heard of anyone working remotely for a US company here in my country. So I was at the moment very excited about that because that means a huge advantage. We received US currency at the time (Mariá still does, and I now get paid in Bitcoin but convert it to USD) we started here which was very important because we had a very bad economic situation here in Venezuela.
And of course, working at home! I was tired of working at an office or factory every day. Before, my mother had to take care of my daughter for half of the day because we had to go to work. Working at home and staying close to our daughter is very very good.
Maria:
Oscar: We thought that the situation was ideal to work at home with our kid, but it’s not as easy as we thought. It’s difficult sometimes for our child that we are at home but we need to work!
Oscar: We’ve been here for 4 years but it’s not all perfect. I had a few rough times. At one time we had a lot of clients, and not so many people operating in our workforce. And at the time I had a very difficult manager, but he’s no longer with the company.
In general, it has been a very nice experience. They have recognized my work and I have grown with the company, starting as just an operator and now I’m a Senior Lead.
